Welcome to DC Orofacial Myology
Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders are conditions where the muscles of the face and mouth function improperly, leading to issues with breathing, swallowing, dental health and sleep.
Myofunctional therapy is a tailored program that guides patients through exercises to establish new habits that retrain the muscles and help them perform their functions properly.
Early intervention is key and habit elimination programs can begin as early as 3 years old; however, Myo therapy can still be effective for children, teenagers, adults and even seniors!
Many common concerns—mouth breathing, jaw tension, poor sleep, and more—stem from dysfunction within the orofacial system. Myofunctional therapy takes a root-cause approach, retraining muscles and habits to restore proper function and support long-term, whole-body health.
